$2,500 Flight Scholarship – Fall 2026

Knoxville Aviation is proud to invest in the next generation of pilots through our Fall 2026 Flight Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to help aspiring aviators take the first step toward earning their Private Pilot Certificate while making flight training more accessible.

The selected recipient will receive a $2,500 scholarship that will be applied directly toward Private Pilot flight training at Knoxville Aviation. Whether your dream is to fly for recreation or pursue a career in aviation, we're committed to helping you get there.

Scholarship Details

  • Award: $2,500

  • Application Deadline: October 31, 2026

  • Recipient Announced: December 10, 2026

  • Training Location: Knoxville Aviation – Knoxville Municipal Airport (KOXV)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Be 16–21 years old

  • Live within 50 miles of Knoxville Municipal Airport (KOXV)

  • Be medically qualified to obtain an FAA Third-Class Medical Certificate

  • Complete their Private Pilot flight training through Knoxville Aviation

Selection Criteria

Applicants must submit a 500–750 word essay explaining:

  • Why they deserve the scholarship

  • Their passion for aviation

  • Their future goals as a pilot

Applications will be evaluated based on passion, motivation, character, and commitment to completing flight training.

Private Pilot Certificate (PPL)

The Private Pilot Certificate is the foundation of every pilot's journey.

You'll learn:

• Aircraft control and maneuvers
• Takeoffs and landings
• Navigation and cross-country flying
• Weather and flight planning
• Emergency procedures
• FAA regulations and safety

Once certified, you'll be able to fly passengers throughout the United States for personal and recreational travel.

FAA Minimum Requirements

✔ 40 Flight Hours*
✔ FAA Knowledge Exam
✔ FAA Practical Test (Checkride)
✔ FAA Third-Class Medical Certificate

Most students complete training in approximately 50–70 hours.

Instrument Rating (IFR)

An Instrument Rating allows you to safely fly in reduced visibility and through the National Airspace System using aircraft instruments.

Training includes:

• Instrument approaches
• Air Traffic Control procedures
• Weather interpretation
• IFR navigation
• Advanced cross-country flying

An Instrument Rating significantly improves your safety, confidence, and overall flying ability.

Commercial Pilot Certificate
